Just rain as you go farther South than Hartsfield Airport. Rain changes to snow in the mountains and accumulates. In-between the two is the trickiest part.
It starts as just rain for everyone late Thursday afternoon and evening, then after midnight snow or sleet may mix in or a changeover may occur including the Northern suburbs continuing into Friday morning in some areas, eventually as far South as the top end perimeter or I-20 zone.

It could just turn into one of those just have to watch it as it happens on radar and out the window because the models handle upper level lows and the vertical temperature profile (Skew-T thermodynamic diagram) like this so poorly.
The areas of the Northern part of Metro Atlanta that gets some snow accumulation does not look widespread or uniform, it would be more like hit and miss summer showers. Nothing to something on the ground 20 miles from each other, much like we’ve already seen a few times the past month, but just a little more but only in spots.

So the bottom line is that for most of Metro Atlanta little or no accumulation on the roads is expected, it just can’t be ruled out as it can in some situations. But we in the Atlanta area get more rain than anything else, any exception would be just that.
