Rain chances will trend upward this week for Metro Atlanta, courtesy of the remnants from Hurricane Nicholas.
Nicholas is expected to slowly crawl east-northeast through Texas and Louisiana.
While the core of the tropical system will stay in the Gulf Coast states, the rain shield associated with Nicholas will spread into North Georgia, including Metro Atlanta.
Despite the slow movement, the heaviest rain associated with Nicholas will remain in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Rainfall totals for North Georgia span between 0.5″ to 1″ through Sunday morning, though locally heavier rainfall amounts are possible in the event a heavy downpour were to stay over a city or town for an hour or so.
The silver lining to the rain? Air quality conditions should improve, and fall pollen allergens will be scrubbed from the air!
According to Atlanta Allergy & Asthma, the Atlanta Allergy Pollen Count for Monday is 56, with tree and weed pollen in the moderate range, while mold activity is high.
