Did you see it?! Atlas V rocket plume spotted over Metro Atlanta

A rather unusual sight was spotted over Metro Atlanta on Tuesday morning.

A linear cloud appeared in the sky shortly before sunrise, resembling a pencil stroke in the sky.

But what caused this weird “cloud”?

Believe it or not, the “cloud” is the rocket plume associated with the United Launch Alliance Atlas V Rocket, which launched from Cape Canaveral at 5:19am EST Tuesday Morning.

As the rocket took flight, the exhaust plume was visible as far as 500 miles away in Metro Atlanta, and it was even visible in areas of Northeast Alabama.
