Storms move out of metro Atlanta

ATLANTA — A tornado watch for metro Atlanta expired at 2 p.m., with storms moving to Georgia’s eastern counties.

Earlier in the day, tornado warnings were issued for residents in Gwinnett, Henry and Spalding counties.  There were also a number of severe thunderstorm warnings that were issued as well.

WSB meteorologist Kirk Mellish says there’s expected to actually be some periods of sun, before some later afternoon isolated showers and storms re-develop.

Meanwhile, Sunday’s final round of The Masters in Augusta was moved up to try to stay ahead of the rain that was moving into that  region of Georgia by mid-afternoon.
