Weekend Traffic Outlook: President in the metro on Sunday

The usual weekend roadwork will continue along GA-400 and I-285 for the Transform 285/400 project. Expect overnight lane closures on the interstates, also impacting entrance and exit ramps to both.

There will also be a slow zone on I-85/northbound through Midtown/Northeast Atlanta for bridge work between 17th St and GA-400.

Don’t forget, President Trump will be in Atlanta Sunday as he heads to Rome for a campaign rally. Expect road closures for his route. WSB will have updates on road closures.

You may also encounter work/repair crews still working on several surface streets metro wide repairing traffic lights & power lines from Tropical Storm Zeta.

Aside from construction President Trump will be in town Sunday for a campaign rally in Rome, GA and possibly other stops. WSB traffic will have updates on travel routes and road closures.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION ZONES

  • Sandy Springs: 1 to 2 right lanes closed on GA-400/northbound/southbound between Northridge Rd (Exit 6) and I-285, also blocking the ramps to I-285 at times, all during the overnight hours. The on/off from to & from Abernathy road will also be impacted. Also expect Abernathy Rd to be closed under GA-400 from 9pm – 5am all weekend.
  • Sandy Springs/Dunwoody: 2 right lanes closed on I-285/eastbound (Inner Loop) from Ashford Dunwoody Rd (Exit 29) to Chamblee Dunwoody Rd (Exit 30) from 9pm – 5am. During the same hours, 3 right lanes closed on I-285/westbound (Outer Loop) from Chamblee Dunwoody Rd (Exit 30) to Ashford Dunwoody Rd (Exit 29). On and off ramps from these exits will also be blocked.
  • Fulton Co: 2 right lanes closed on I-285/northbound (Inner Loop) between Hollowell Pkwy (Exit 12) and Atlanta Rd (Exit 16) throughout the weekend.
  • Cobb Co: Rolling Closure on I-75/northbound/southbound at Barrett Pkwy between 12am – 5am. This is a single lane rolling closure.
  • Cobb Co: 1 right lane closed on I-75/northbound/southbound at Delk Rd (Exit 261) from 9pm – 4:3am. This will also impact a lane on Delk Rd in both directions at I-75.
  • Atlanta: 2 right lanes closed on I-85/northbound between 17th St and GA-400 from 8am – 5pm all weekend. Also impacting the exit ramp to the Buford Spring Connector.
  • Atlanta: Atlanta: Northside Dr closed between 10th St and Ethel St for building construction.
  • Atlanta: W Peachtree St between Ponce De Leon Ave and 3rd St as well as Ponce De Leon Ave between Peachtree St and West Peachtree St closed throughout the weekend for filming. Broad St between Mitchell St & MLK Jr Drive will also be closed.
  • Atlanta: President Trump will be in the Metro on Sunday for a campaign rally in Rome, GA. Expect road closures on his route of travel. WSB will provide updates and road closures with details on Sunday.
