ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves announced Friday morning they don’t want to mess with managerial success. Team manager Brian Snitker got a contract extension for two more years, with a team option for 2024.

Snitker has been with the Braves for 45 seasons, holding jobs at nearly every level of the organization before being appointed interim manager in May of 2016. He was promoted permanently to the job in October that year.
“I am thrilled that Brian will lead our club on the field and in the clubhouse. Three consecutive division titles speak to the impact of Brian and his staff and we are pleased he will continue to guide our club through 2023,” said Braves General Manager Alex Anthopoulus.
The past three seasons, Snitker’s teams have won the National League East and in 2020, he led the Braves to their first postseason series win since 2001. The Braves made it all the way to the 2020 National League Championship series where they lost the best-of-seven series 4-3.

Snitker has a 353-317 record as a manager and was named 2018 Manager of the Year by the Baseball Writer’s Association of America.
The Braves have already begun spring training in North Port, Florida and their first spring game is Sunday.
The first regular season game of 2021 will be on April 1 in Philadelphia while opening day at Truist Park will be Friday April 9.
