Q: I’ve a Norfolk Pine as a house plant for 20 years. It’s too big to stay inside. Plant it outside?

A: I can’t find anything to where I’d feel comfortable telling you to plant it outside. It may be time to donate it to a church, nursing home or school.

If you insist on placing it outside, you’d better hope for no winter like what we had last year. They need well-draining soil in an open, bright spot, just not in full sun.
