University of Georgia Police are investigating the death of a student on the campus in Athens.
UGA Police Chief Jimmy Williamson tells WSB's Mark Alewine the body of the 21-year-old man was discovered around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 5th floor of Vandiver Hall.
Officers were called to the dorm in the East Campus Village on River Road after roommates of the deceased asked them to conduct a welfare check.
The cause of death has not been determined, but foul play is not suspected.
According to the AJC, the student has been identified as David Peacock Braun of Marietta. Suite mates concerned about the student’s welfare called UGA housing officials, who contacted police, he said.
An autopsy is planned Wednesday at the GBI Crime Lab.
