Two teens, ages 17 and 18, were taken to the hospital after sliding the backside of Stone Mountain Tuesday.
The two had joined their neighbor and his 12-year-old son for a hike up the mountain when park spokesman John Bankhead says the four veered into a restricted area.
"One of the boys wanted to go a little bit farther than he should have and went down and saw this area where he felt he could slide down... a pipe of some sort, and got in a situation where he couldn't stop," he tells WSB's Sandra Parrish.
Bankhead says the first teen suffered head injuries and was air lifted to Atlanta Medical Center. The second teen, who went down to help, suffered abrasions and was taken by ambulance to Gwinnett Medical Center.
DeKalb Fire and Rescue helped park public safety officials rescue the teens.
Neither the father nor his son were injured, but the 18 year old, Jason Landress, was a different story.
Angie Landress, the step mother, told Channel 2 both jaws were broken, he had a bruise on his brain, his lungs bruised, and he was also seeing a plastic surgeon.
Bankhead says the man told police he didn't realize they were in a restricted area and will not face charges.
“Someone moved the signs and failed to put the signs back, so it wasn’t posted for no one to be there,” Jason's dad, Jericho Landress, told Channel 2.
