Two Arrested in Johns Creek Robberies

Family and friends of a Johns Creek armed robbery suspect are shocked by the charges he's facing.  They say 21-year-old John Reid was a high school basketball standout, currently attending college.

"They're good kids.  We went to school together at Georgia Southern.  They've never done anything like this," Reid's friend tells Channel 2 Action News.

However, the victim's brother paints quite a different picture.  For Jose Perez' brother, Miguel, it was ten seconds of terror.

"The guys basically came in running in came through the door here and they were like give me the money.  When you have a gun in your face, it's not the most pleasant thing to have," said Perez.

Reid and 21-year-old Jamario Barnwell are accused of robbing at least two liquor stores.  Forsyth County Sherriff’s investigators say the first robbery happened at a package store on State Bridge Road in Johns Creek.

Authorities say surveillance video shows the same men robbing a liquor store on Peachtree Parkway.  Chris Byers with the Johns Creek Police Department says the getaway car in both robberies was a black Toyota Corrolla.

"The tag came back to a car registered here in Johns Creek," said Byers.

Byers says that tag led investigators to a home on De Malle Court.

"They found evidence of the crime that occurred in Johns Creek and the one that occurred in Forsyth County," said Byers.

Authorities are investigating to see if the two men are behind other armed robberies.
