The latest superhero film from Marvel had a domestic take of $35.8 million during its second weekend across 4,300 theaters, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Shang-Chi’s” second-week numbers have been helped by it being limited to theaters. Black Widow opened simultaneously in theaters and on the Disney+ streaming service, according to Variety.

Ticket sales for the movie, which stars Simu Liu and Awkwafina, fell 53% from its first weekend, Variety reported. However, “Shang-Chi” has fared better than Marvel’s last superhero effort, “Black Widow,” which fell 70% during its second week.

“Shang-Chi” now owns the largest second weekend since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Black Widow” grossed $25.8 million during its second weekend.

In domestic theaters, “Shang-Chi” has grossed $145.6 million, which includes a $90 million showing during its debut weekend, the website reported.

Globally, “Shang-Chi” has grossed more than $257.6 million, making it the fourth-highest grossing film of 2021, according to Variety.
