According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, at around 6 p.m. on Monday, deputies responded to a call about some suspicious activity at the former King’s Inn property.

Witnesses in the area told deputies they saw a black SUV parked in the northern area of the property and it quickly took off after the drone returned with the candy, according to KSTP.

A woman told them that she was out fishing with five children near the shore in the area when a drone flew up, hovered, flew away and then came back to drop a bag of candy near the children, according to KSTP.

On Wednesday, deputies said they have identified a person of interest and said that the incident was an ill-conceived effort to obtain footage for use on a social media platform rather than an attempt to engage in criminal activity.” No further information has been released.
