Blood pressure, heart condition medication recalled after labels were switched

A packaging mix-up has led to the recall of a blood pressure medication and a second medication designed to lower the risk of having a stroke or serious heart problems, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reports.

Golden State Medical Supply has recalled bottles of Atenolol, a blood pressure medication, and Clopidogrel, a medication aimed at heart issues after the manufacturer discovered that labels had been switched on some of the bottles.

Patients and caregivers should take the recalled drugs back to their pharmacy or contact the prescribing medical professional for instructions on what to do.

According to the company, lot No. GS046745 of Atenolol and Clopidogrel were both recalled. Both medications have an expiration date of December 2023.
