Study says Mediterranean diet could help with Irritable Bowel Syndrome

UNITED KINGDOM — Here’s another reason you may want to try a Mediterranean diet; it could help people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

A new study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine finds the diet, which emphasizes plant based foods and lean proteins, while avoiding red meat, performed better than a traditional diet at relieving the symptoms of IBS.

Patients also reported less abdominal pain.

The study suggests a Mediterranean diet could be used as a treatment for IBS.
