Search continues for World War II-era plane

Searchers are looking in a heavily wooded area of eastern Tennessee for a 70-year-old plane that was headed for Georgia.

The single engine World War II-era de Havilland DHC-1 took off from French Lick, Ind. It was scheduled to land in Canon, Ga. in Franklin County. It never made it.

Searchers didn't find the plane overnight Sunday, but they've narrowed the search area to Monroe County, south of Knoxville.

There was only one person onboard the two-seater when it took off over the weekend. It was not receiving air traffic controls and was only using visual flight rules.
