Nearly six and a half inches fell in the Thomasville area Wednesday in less than two hours.
Homes and businesses were flooded.
Thomasville resident Paul Boyd said "stuff was floating down the middle of the streets.” Some families said there are two feet of water in some of the houses.
David Crider, who works at the local Days Inn says water damaged up to 60 rooms and it took about 2 hours for the water to subside.
Damage estimates could cost anywhere between 30,000 and 40,000 dollars.
No one is reported injured or missing in Wednesday night's flooding.
