(ATLANTA, Ga.) — At least four people sustained injuries in a partial crane collapse at 1020 Spring St, near 10th and West Peachtree St in Midtown, Atlanta. The Atlanta Police Department has confirmed to WSB that there are 4 non-life-threatening injuries.

The injured people were taken to a local hospital.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m., a piece of the crane’s counterbalance broke off and landed on the street below. Fire departments originally responded to a fire report, but found the crane collapsed upon arrival. It’s not clear right now if the reported fire contributed to the collapse.

W. Peachtree Street has been closed to traffic; as well as Spring Street NW between 12th Street and 10th Street; and 10th Street NW from Spring Street NW to W. Peachtree Street NW. Alternative routes include Peachtree Street or Juniper to the east, and Northside Drive or the Downtown Connector to the west.

The AJC reports that the construction is at the site of a planned residential tower at the corner of Spring and 10th streets, called Spring Quarter. It is set to open in 2025.

All residents of the surrounding apartment buildings and members of the construction crews have been accounted for.
