Armed robbery suspect sought in Gainesville

John Mooney has been paroled, free on time served after decades in prison for the notorious murder of Athens bar owner TK Harty. The murder happened at Harty’s home in Athens in 1977.

Police in Gainesville were, at last report, still trying to track down an armed robbery suspect, a man who with a gun who held up a pharmacy on Gainesville’s north side earlier this week.

A Hall County woman is facing forgery charges, arrested after allegedly trying to pass a counterfeit $50 bill at a pharmacy in Oakwood: Lindsay Wilson is in the Hall County jail on charges that also include drug possession, reportedly caught with marijuana and heroin.

A Gainesville man is booked into the Hall County jail on theft charges: Gary Cochran is accused of stealing musical equipment and cash from a church in Clermont. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office says charges against Daniel Smith have been upgraded to include attempted murder: the 37 year-old Smith was arrested late last month after allegedly shooting at Gainesville Police Officers who were responding to a reported disturbance at a motel. There were no injuries in the June 25 shooting. Smith is being held without bail in the Hall County jail.
