Peachtree Corners insurance agency investigated for fraud

Investigators with the Georgia Insurance Commissioner's office search a Peachtree Corners home after allegations of possible insurance fraud.

Appeal Insurance Agency operates out of the home belonging to Jack Kill, listed as the CEO.

Sherry Mowell, director of the state's insurance fraud division, tells WSB’s Sandra Parrish her office was notified by an insurance carrier after several commercial businesses with coverage through Appeal presented fake policies.

The companies involved range from motor carriers to construction companies.

“People think they have coverage because they received a policy, when actually there is no coverage in place,” she says.

Mowell says Kill could face insurance fraud and forgery charges depending on evidence investigators find in the boxes confiscated from the home.

The insurance commissioner's office advices anyone insured through Appeal to verify their policy with their carrier.  If it is not legitimate, they are urged to contact the Insurance Commissioner’s office.
