Papa John's restaurants in Georgia sued over pay

Two law firms sue the operator of 42 Papa John's restaurants in Georgia, Alabama, Florida and Tennessee over the alleged failure to pay delivery drivers minimum wage.

The lawsuit claims QS America, Inc. of Alpharetta is violating federal wage and hour laws by not reimbursing about 1,800 drivers who have delivered pizzas at those Papa John's outlets over the past three years.

According to the suit filed in federal court in Atlanta, drivers have not been adequately reimbursed for mileage and vehicle expenses, reducing their net wages below minimum wage.  Employees must also pay for their own uniforms, including shirts, coats and hats.

"Such charges further reduce net wages below minimum wage,"  the lawsuit states.

Law firms Paul McInnes LLP and Weinhaus & Potashnick hope to take this lawsuit class action.

Papa John's is not the only pizza chain targeted over mileage compensation. These firms have pursued suits against operators of Pizza Hut and Jet's as well.
