Man to serve 2-3 months in DUI killing of bride

A Georgia man has pled guilty in the drunk driving death of his bride on the night of their wedding.

Ryan Quinton, 29 of Jasper, admitted he was drunk when he ran off a road in Cherokee County, killing Kali Shay Dobson, 25, as they left their wedding reception in Ball Ground in December 2013.

He also pled guilty to a second DUI, months after the fatal crash.

Quinton's and Dobson's families both attended Tuesday's hearing. According to the Marietta Daily Journal, both sides came in support of a tearful Quinton, who told them they have no idea how sorry he is.

The judge sentenced Quinton to the maximum sentence of 15 years for vehicular homicide. But he must only serve two or three months in custody. The rest will be served on probation.

He is also forbidden to drive for the next five years, and must serve 2,000 hours of community service.
