After a 6 month investigation, the former elections supervisor in Cherokee County now faces felony theft charges.
55-year old Janet Munda of Cumming is charged with Felony Theft by Taking. She's accused of using her county credit card for personal charges.
Munda was booked into the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center Saturday night. She was released on a $9,000 bail.
When the investigation began, Cherokee County Sheriff Roger Garrison said his office would review credit card records dating back at least a year.
Munda was fired from her position as Director of Elections in July 2014. At the time, she was making more than $72,000 dollars a year. She had been elections supervisor for 10 years.
A letter of termination outlined seven county policies Munda was accused of violating, including misconduct, carelessness or negligence with county money, inappropriate handling of county funds and failure to follow procedure for use of county funds.
