Online shoppers need to be aware of a dangerous scam that is targeting Amazon customers.
According to a recent report, scammers have sent thousands of emails to consumers that appears to be from Amazon claiming there is a “problem” with an order.
WSB consumer expert Clark Howard says this is clever and really thought through. "It’s deviously clever."
He says the e-mail look legit. Anybody who is an Amazon Prime member are used to seeing these kind of e-mails.
In the e-mail you are told you need to click on a link and confirm information in order to resolve the problem.
The link takes you to a fake website where the scam artists trick you into giving up your personal information- putting you at risk.
Howard says if you get an e-mail from Amazon never click on a link inside the e-mail.
He says, “go to Amazon.com and log into your account to see if there really is an order that you need to update."
