Mom of 10 shot and killed in East Atlanta

A mother of 10 is dead after getting shot, apparently over a text message.

Terri Williams, 34,  has turned herself in to police.

“Ms. Terri Williams voluntarily presented herself to detectives this morning,” attorney W. Scott Smith said in a letter. “We strongly believe that Ms. Williams will be fully exonerated.”

“[Williams] will be charged with murder,” said Lt. Guerrucci.

Lt. Paul Guerrucci says the victim,  34-year-old Charlese Brooks of Rex, was shot multiple times.

Police say Williams took off after the shots were fired. Family members say the two were arguing about a text message while at the Brickhouse restaurant.

The victim had ten children, five of whom were recently adopted foster children.

“I’m hurt, I’m hurt,” Charleen Dennis, a relative of the victim, told Channel 2 Action News. “All I can is stay prayed up. She had 10 children so somebody has to be the strong person of the bunch.”

The shooting happened just before 7 p.m. along the sidewalk in the 800 block of Bouldercrest Road.

Guerrucci says it's a well-traveled area and many people  could have seen the crime. Police are interviewing several witnesses.
