Sunday’s storms brought lots of a rain, a little bit of a hail and a few downed trees. But WSB’s meteorologist Kirk Mellish says that’s it for the next five days.
Most in metro Atlanta spent their Sunday stuck in doors after a rainy Sunday.
The National Weather Service reports Atlanta received almost 1.6 inches of rain on Sunday.
An 80-foot tall tree came crashing down on top of a McDonough man’s home and pickup truck.
That led to flash flooding concerns and damaged homes from falling trees.
“I thought lightning hit and I went out and it was down on my house,” Mike Harris told Channel 2 Action News. “It didn’t do anything to the inside. Just crushed my truck and knocked the power out.
In Coweta County, high winds blew an RV and a pontoon boat into a neighbor’s yard.
“There was debris everywhere,” said Murphy Johnson who saw a funnel cloud behind his house. “Both sheds and the pontoon boat was gone.”
Pea to quarter sized hail was reported in Henry, Rockdale, Troup and Newton counties. But there are no reports of injuries.
WSB meteorologist Kirk Mellish says it should be turning partly cloudy today with highs around 77. Lows Monday should be in the mid 50s.
The nice weather hangs around for Tuesday as highs should nudge up near 80 degrees, says Mellish.
There is a 30 percent chance of an isolated shower Wednesday through Friday. A few extra clouds to end the work week will keep temperatures closer to 70, says Mellish.
