80-year-old found shot to death at Atlanta home

80-year-old grandfather killed after someone fired at least 20 shots into his home Police believe the man was an unintended victim of a drive-by shooting.

Atlanta police said they found a 80-year-old man shot to death Friday morning at a home in southwest Atlanta.

Channel 2 Action News learned that police were called around 4 a.m. to do a welfare check off Meadow Park Drive SW. When they arrived at the home, officers found the man’s body inside.

Investigators tell Channel 2′s Lauren Pozen the shooting happened sometime between 9 and 10 p.m Thursday night. At least 20 shots were fired into the home, according to police.

Police have not released the victim’s name, but family identified him as Clarence Knox. Detectives believe the 80-year-old was not the intended target of the shooting.
