Woodstock police investigate armed robbery

Woodstock Police are asking for the public's help in locating a car involved in an armed robbery in the middle of the afternoon.  Police Spokeswoman Brittany Duncan says a man was walking in the parking lot of the Outlet Shops of Atlanta on Ridgewalk Parkway when he was approached in a car.

"The victim stated a male walked up to him and stopped him, displayed a handgun, and then demanded his necklace and his hat," said Duncan.

The victim says another man got out of the car and the two men demanded other items and threatened to shoot him before someone in another vehicle approached.

A third suspect, a female, was also in the car. Duncan was asked if they were looking into the possibility that this robbery may be linked to a robbery last Friday at a Pappadeaux restaurant on Windy Hill Road.

"Investigators do believe that the vehicle is a 2015 to 2016 gray in color Ford Focus with Florida tags," said Duncan.

"At this time, were are exploring all possibilities," said Duncan.

Anthony and Cynthia Welch were walking in the parking lot of the restaurant Friday night when someone approached them, shot her and her husband, and ripped a five dollar necklace off of her neck.  Her husband died.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Woodstock Police Department Tip Line at 770-592-6021 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS.
