CONYERS, GA — One of the twin sisters convicted in the 2010 murder of their mother in Conyers has been released from a Georgia prison after 12 years behind bars.
Nikki Whitehead was found dead and submerged in a bathtub inside her Conyers home in January 2010.
Whitehead’s twin daughters, Tasmiyah and Jasmiyah Whitehead, who were 16 at the time, initially told authorities they were scared after finding their mother. Investigators later determined their stories did not add up.
The twins eventually confessed to the crime and were each sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Tasmiyah Whitehead was recently released on parole after serving 12 years.
Her twin sister, Jasmiyah Whitehead, is not eligible for parole until early 2028.
