ATLANTA — A woman accused of stealing more than $1 million worth of checks from the mail has been sentenced to federal prison.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Atlanta, an investigation into 44-year-old Melissa McAfee began in 2024 after customers in the Smyrna area complained about stolen mail along McAfee’s route.
Federal prosecutors say she stole over 170 checks and 37 gift cards.
She was sentenced to two years in federal prison.
