GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Drivers traveling through Gwinnett County and Alpharetta this weekend should prepare for lane closures as crews work on two road projects.
The Georgia Department of Transportation says crews will resurface I-85 South between Pleasantdale/Northcrest Road and Jimmy Carter Boulevard beginning Sunday night.
Three right lanes and the right shoulder will be closed from 9 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday.
The work is part of a $42 million resurfacing project covering 16 miles from Norcross to the I-75/85 Brookwood Interchange in Atlanta. The project is intended to provide a smoother ride for drivers and improve the condition of the deteriorating roadway.
In Alpharetta, crews will also work on State Route 120 this weekend.
One eastbound lane of Old Milton Parkway between North Point Parkway and Kimball Bridge Road will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday as crews widen the roadway.
The work will continue during the same hours Sunday as crews pave the roadway.
