ATLANTA — After announcing in April that two pandas will come to Zoo Atlanta, Xi Jinping confirmed today that they will arrive in the coming days.
Beijing reclaimed four pandas in 2024 when diplomatic tensions between the U.S. and China were high, but the coming pandas, male Ping Ping and female Fu Shuang, will arrive as a sign of good faith between the two countries. The deal is part of a giant panda conservation agreement with the China Wildlife Conservation Association.
There is no information on the exact arrival date.
