It’s on and poppin at Hartsfield-Jackson as more people pour into watch the Super Bowl. There’s music in the Atrium and hundreds of White-Coated Atlanta Volunteers welcoming football fans from all over. The volunteers are scattered throughout the airport to snapping pictures for guests, giving warm greetings and directions and advice for what to do while visitors are here for the weekend. Also prevalent at the airport… Dogs.. Lots of Dogs…
The TSA’s Mark Howell says they’re beefing up their K-9 teams from all over the southeast. “We have some from Jacksonville, that have come up, from other places in Florida, some from Tennessee. Some of them that have come into support operations here.”
WSB Radio spoke with handlers who drove their dogs in from Charleston, South Carolina, Orlando, Florida and Nashville, Tennessee. Those out of town teams are in place to help beef up and support the 18 K-9 teams that are always working at Hartsfield-Jackson. The visiting teams arrived in town on January 23rd and will head out after Monday, February 4th.
