Trial finally set for Dragon Con co-founder

After 13 years, a trial date has finally been sent for Dragon Con co-founder Ed Kramer charged with molesting three boys.

Attorneys for both sides and Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge Karen Byers have agreed to go to trial on December 2.

His lead attorney, Brian Steel, is asking for reasonable accommodations for Kramer who suffers a host of medical issues.

Kramer's prison doctor testified he underwent a cervical fusion after suffering a spinal injury while at the Gwinnett County Jail which limits his motion.  He also has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or COPD in which must carry an oxygen tank. Kramer also has type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, and narcolepsy.

"He's in terrible shape in our judgment," says another of his attorneys McNeill Stokes.

He says while his client is ready to prove his innocence, a 13 year delay could have a detrimental impact.

"It's just not good to have this kind of delay... for whatever reason," he says, noting Kramer's physical condition is the primary reason.

Byers took under advisement a motion by Steel that Kramer has been wrongly jailed without bond and says she will make her decision at a later time.
