Tri-Cities High to change security measures

A metro school is changing its security measures after a gun turned up on school property.

The principal of Tri-Cities High School in East Point says a 16-year old former student brought the unloaded handgun into the building.  School resource officers caught the student at a bus ramp.

"They should put them in jail automatically if you even bring a gun onto school property. That's not right," student Destiny West told Channel 2 Action News.

It's not clear why the teen came to the school, which then texted and called parents to tell them what had happened.

The school is now instituting a no-leave policy for students staying after school.
