Synthetic pot bust in Cherokee County

Police in Cherokee County have arrested two men for allegedly selling synthetic marijuana at the Texaco on Riverstone Parkway in Canton.

Agents arrested the owner of the business, Karim Kabiroodin Damani, and an employee of the business, Jesus Ortiz Cisneros. Both are charged with the intent to distribute a controlled substance.

Agents were able to locate 22 packages of synthetic marijuana with a street value of between $600 and $1,100.

Phil Price, Commander of the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad, said, "the sale of these substances is highly lucrative, and it is tempting for businesses to get involved in this illegal activity," but he said, "the health and lives of our children are too precious to be placed at risk for financial benefit."

Price said the suspects would only sell the drugs to certain people who came in the store. He said, "you sell potato chips to everybody who comes in and asks for potato chips, so it seems to indicate to me that if you differentiate between customers, that that's an indication you know something's wrong."

Both suspects have been released on bond.
