COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities are investigating a shooting at a manufacturing plant in Coweta County.
Coweta County Sheriff officials said shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday, deputies received reports of that an employee at the Global Powertrain plant on Dart Road had been shot by another employee.
The shooter has since been identified as Sylvester Florence Jr., an employee of the plant. He has been arrested and is currently being processed into the Coweta County Detention Center. His exact charges are unclear.
When deputies arrived at the scene earlier on Thursday, they were told Florence Jr. was barricaded somewhere in the building.
Witnesses later told deputies Florence Jr. may have fled the scene on a motorcycle. Soon after, a Newnan police officer reported they were following a motorcycle that matched the description.
Florence Jr. reportedly ditched the motorcycle and fled on foot until the officer captured him.
The shooting victim was taken to a hospital in Atlanta, where his or her condition has not been released.
Deputies have not identified the victim.
