AMERICUS, Ga. — Officials have issued an all clear after a public safety issue led them to make a shelter in place order on Georgia Southwestern State University’s campus on Wednesday.
The school’s website says someone reported a person carrying a gun in the Magnolia Courtyard area.
One person was arrested off campus, officials said.
“We are grateful to report that no injuries have been reported. We extend our sincere thanks to GSW Public Safety and all partnering local and state law enforcement agencies for their swift and coordinated response in ensuring the safety of our campus community,” school officials said in a statement.
Police did not say what charges are pending or the identity of the person who was arrested.
