Sandy Springs restaurant shut down after police discover illegal after-hours club

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — A Sandy Springs restaurant has been shut down after police investigating a shooting discovered an illegal after-hours club operating inside the business.

The investigation began after a fight broke out inside Nubia Cafe and Restaurant on Roswell Road. Police say one of the men involved pulled out a gun and shot the other man multiple times in the parking lot.

Both men suffered minor injuries. The suspected shooter is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

During the investigation, Sandy Springs police determined the restaurant’s owner was operating an illegal club without the required permits or licenses.

The Sandy Springs Fire Department and Code Enforcement later inspected the building and cited the owner for multiple licensing and permitting violations, including a lack of required state licenses and city permits.

The city shut down the business because of the violations, and the owner was cited.
