ROSWELL, GA — Roswell homeowners could see a significant increase in their property taxes under a new millage rate proposal from the city.
Under the proposal, Roswell would raise its property tax rate by more than 50%. For a home with a fair market value of $575,000, that would amount to an increase of about $575.
City leaders say the additional revenue is needed to fund long-overdue road and infrastructure improvements, maintain aging city facilities and equipment, and invest in public safety.
Roswell says its property tax rate has remained roughly flat over the past decade.
The Roswell City Council is expected to take up the proposed millage rate increase during its meeting on Sept. 28.
