DACULA, GA — Metro Atlanta officials are issuing a warning to pet owners after a racoon tested positive for rabies.
Pet owners in Dacula are being urged to make sure their pets are current on rabies vaccinations.
Michael Chatham with Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement says residents should also avoid leaving garbage outside, which can attract wild animals and increase the risk of exposure
“This racoon did not show signs until it just attacked a dog on the porch,” Chatham said.
