Powers Ferry Road bridge closes for 3 days for maintenance

COBB COUNTY, GA — A busy road connecting Cobb and Fulton counties will be closed for the next three days as crews perform maintenance on the Powers Ferry Road bridge over the Chattahoochee River.

The Georgia Department of Transportation temporarily closed the bridge Tuesday morning. The closure is expected to remain in place through 9 p.m. Thursday.

Signs will direct drivers to a detour using Interstate North Parkway. Drivers should expect delays in the area.

The closure is part of a $1.6 million rehabilitation and preservation project involving two bridges in Cobb County. Crews will replace or repair concrete overlays, edge beams, substructures and bridge joints.

The work is part of a planned seven-day repair schedule.

The overall project is expected to be completed in late fall 2027.
