Police say there may be a third victim in deadly NW Atlanta shooting

ATLANTA — Atlanta police are now saying a third person may be involved in a shooting that left two people dead Sunday afternoon.

A neighbor who wished to remain anonymous said he was walking home when suddenly, he saw a car pull up to a home; two men got out of a vehicle, gunfire rang out, and when the shots stopped, two people were dead.

The shooting happened at 641 Francis Place in Northwest Atlanta just after 6 p.m.

Lt. Andrew Smith of the Atlanta Police Department said officers found two men in their 20s who had been shot when they arrived on the scene. They were taken to Grady Hospital, where they died.

Police said a third person was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle who had been shot, but they have not confirmed that they are involved in the incident.

The third person is in stable condition.

According to Lt. Smith, the motive appears to stem from an argument at Center Hill Park down the street and spilled into the neighborhood where the shooting occurred.

The neighbor who observed the shooting said he noticed a guy get out with a mask and a gun beside his thigh. He then saw the man run around the car, and the next thing he heard was a lot of screaming and shots.

Police have one of the guns believed to have been used in the shooting after it reportedly fell under a vehicle parked on the street. The neighbor found it and handed it to investigators.

None of the victims’ identities have been released.

The investigation remains ongoing.
