Sandy Springs police are investigating a double homicide at an apartment complex off Franklin Road.
Two men were found shot to death in a unit Sunday evening.
Investigators say they do not know if it was a random crime or if the killer knew his victims.
Channel 2’s Liz Artz spoke to the family of one of the victims and no one seemed to know the identity of other victim.
The family of 27-year-old Lalo “Freddie” Vega told Artz they cannot imagine what led to his shooting death around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Sandy Springs police responded to Vega’s apartment off Franklin Road after receiving 911 calls of gunfire. Vega’s brother-in-law said his lifeless body was discovered by his wife after she came home from an outing with her sister. He said she did not recognize the other victim lying beside her husband.
Detectives are interviewing family and neighbors. Police did not immediately have a motive or a suspect.
“We’re in the initial stages of investigation so I don’t know if we have a random or not,” Sandy Springs Police Capt. Steve Rose said.
Candelario Cruz said his brother-in-law had been shot twice in the chest, leaving behind his wife and 5-year-old daughter.
“We’ll go over backgrounds, any relationships they may have had with other people,” Rose said.
Police canvassed the area all night Sunday. A group of people at the complex were pulled aside and question for some time Sunday.
Anyone who knows anything about the crime should call Sandy Springs police immediately.
