Man shot to death after incident inside metro Atlanta Dunkin’ Donuts

Someone shot and killed a man outside a Dunkin’ in DeKalb County. Police believe the shooting happened after an incident inside the store.

WSB′s Tyisha Fernandes is at the scene at 2704 Candler Road, where dispatch confirmed police were investigating a shooting call Friday.

Fernandes and her photographer spotted a body being loaded into a DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office van near the handicap parking spot in front of the store.

Detectives spoke with witnesses and are reviewing surveillance footage. Police have not identified any suspects.

Police confirmed to Fernandes that a 41-year-old man died from a gunshot wound.

Sources confirmed to Fernandes that it is a homicide investigation. It is unclear what led to the shooting or if police have a suspect in custody.

The store posted a sign on its door that says the inside of the store will be closed until Saturday at 7 a.m. The drive-thru remains open.

A representative for Dunkin’ sent the following statement to WSB.

“We’re aware of the incident that took place at our franchised location in Decatur, GA. The franchisee is cooperating fully with local authorities as they conduct their investigation. Due to this being an active investigation, we defer any further comment to the local police department.”
