A man who stabbed to death his ex-wife in front of her Lawrenceville home took his own life hours later at a Norcross gun range.
Gwinnett Police investigators say 60-year-old Chhay Hour drove to the Norcross Gun Club on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and rented a gun after stabbing to death 37-year-old Chheng Voight.
"He went into the firing range and, by the reports we have, fired some shots down range just at a target before he killed himself with that weapon," says Cpl. Jake Smith.
No one else at the gun range was injured.
The range issued a statement late Friday saying: "This is a very tragic situation that sadly concluded on our grounds. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family at this time."
Smith says there are no previous reports of violence between the couple. The woman leaves behind an infant and a two-year-old child.
Voight's mother, 59-year-old Ya Van, was also stabbed but is expected to recover.
Neighbors on Chris Lake Drive witnessed the attack. Leon Hughes grabbed his gun and confronted Hour. He fired shots as the man sped away in his gray Lexus.
Smith says, however, no bullets were found to have hit the vehicle.
