With all the rain in Georgia, be aware! Poison ivy is thriving right now due to the moisture and warm temperatures, as well as an increase in carbon dioxide in the air.
Along with being more prolific, the vine is also becoming more potent here in Georgia.
Ashley Frasca, host of WSB’s Green and Growing, explains how to spot poison ivy, “It’s leaves of three, but the two on the sides are going to be smooth across the top of the leaf, and the bottom edge has a serration. That’s how you know the difference.”
Experts are warning to keep an eye out when gardening and hiking, though Frasca says you actually have to touch the leaf to have a reaction.
