One-man chop shop in Gwinnett County

A Lawrenceville man has been charged with running a one man chop shop.

Gwinnett County Police Corporal Jake Smith tells WSB stolen car parts led police to the suspect. A neighbor told the victim another neighbor may have been responsible.

"The victim actually took it upon himself to drive past the suspect's home," said Smith, "and he could actually see the stolen car parts in front of the garage, and he could see slightly into the garage where he saw an after-market engine that he had just purchased."

He called police. When they went to 22-year-old Aundra Pollard's house on Cedar Farms Drive, they confirmed that the stolen parts belonged to his neighbor.

Pollard was arrested in 2010 for stealing a car. Now, he is charged with burglary, entering auto, theft by receiving, and operating a chop shop.

"They saw that the suspect had actually been advertising those very same car parts on Facebook for sale to his friends," said Smith. "Further investigation revealed that he was using an online website to buy and sell car parts -- and one actual car and a couple of motorcycles."

Smith says they would like to talk to anyone who has done business with Pollard to see if there are other victims out there.
