One of a kind park coming to Kennesaw

Crews break ground on a skate park that some say will be a one-of-a-kind facility.

Kennesaw Mayor Mark Mathews tells Channel 2 Action News the $2 million facility will attract skateboarders from all over the country.

"This will be the only permanent facility that matches that design which in turn is going to be the only place in America that skaters that are trying to turn pro or are pro, can come and train for the competitions," said Mathews.

"Just waiting for this park for seven years now, you know what I mean," said Fortenberry.

Skateboarder Justin Fortenberry says the park will be the biggest thing for the sport ever in the southeast.

Phase 1 of the park is scheduled to be down by this summer.
