Obama stops for lunch at The Varsity

During President Barak Obama's visit to Atlanta on Tuesday he stopped for lunch at a historic landmark, The Varsity.

Right at the start of the lunch rush hour Obama walked into the restaurant.  What'll you have?" Obama was greeted.  The President ordered five chili dogs, four hotdogs and a cheeseburger for his traveling staff and Mayor Kasim Reed and Reed's mother Sylvia Reed.

The President then greeted a group of school children and some military personnel before leaving for his first fundraiser.

Georgia Tech student and U.S. Air Force ROTC cadet Michael Evans wasn’t expecting to meet his Commander-in-Chief when his parents took him to lunch on Tuesday.

“Somebody asked me if I wanted to meet the president,” a still astonished Evans told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Obama walked into one of the dining rooms after ordering his lunch to greet the young cadet, who was fresh from field training at Maxwell Air Force Base.

“He just got his wings,” Evans’ father, Robert Evans said, beaming with pride. “And this is the first person he meets when he comes back to town.”

The President was in town to attend a fundraiser and reception at the Westin Peachtree Plaza hotel.   About 500 people attended.  "I'm glad to be back in Atlanta," Obama told the crowd before acknowledging Mayor Kasim Reed and civil rights activist the Rev Joseph Lowery, who watched the president's speech from a wheelchair.

"We rise and fall together," Obama told the crowd.

They responded by interrupting his speech chanting "Four more years! Four more years!"

Following the event, Obama and his entourage returned to Hartsfield-Jackson Airport to board Air Force One.  The President's campaign visit snarled traffic throughout the downtown Atlanta area for most of the afternoon.  The jumbo jet departed at 3:12 p.m.  Obama then headed to south to Florida to attend more fundraisers.
