Names released for victims in deadly Cherokee County spa shooting; Atlanta victims not identified yet

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — Officials are starting to release the names of the victims in the deadly metro Atlanta spa shootings.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office released the names of the four deaths and person injured in that county:

  • 33-year-old Delaina Ashley Yaun, of Acworth
  • 54-year-old Paul Andre Michels, of Atlanta
  • 49-year-old Xiaojie Tan, of Kennesaw
  • 44-year-old Daoyou Feng
  • Elcias R. Hernandez-Ortiz, 30, of Acworth, injured

The family for Hernandez-Ortiz tells Channel 2′s Chris Jose that he is in serious condition but stable.

The names of the victims at the spas off Piedmont Road in Atlanta have not yet been released. Atlanta police have said that all four victims who were killed were Asian women.

We’re working to learn more about the victims from their families and coworkers for Channel 2 Action News starting at 4 p.m.

Three of the victims were found at one location and the fourth victim was found at another spa across the street.

Authorities arrested 21-year-old Robert Long from Woodstock in the deadly rampage. Long was captured after a short chase in Crisp County on Tuesday night.

Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Atlanta police, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia State Patrol held a news conference on Wednesday.

Cherokee County Sheriff Frank Reynolds said Long told investigators that he had a sexual addiction and had frequented all three businesses before. Long allegedly told investigators that he blames the massage parlors for providing an outlet for his addiction and wanted to “eliminate the temptation.”

Bottoms said spas targeted in yesterday’s shootings are legally operating businesses and have not been on the radar of APD.

“We are not about to get into victim blaming, victim shaming here,” the mayor said.
